• XSport is moving from the current 2FA solution (using One Time Passcodes and Google Authenticator) to the Microsoft MFA solution.  

• In preparation, the IT department is asking everyone to follow these directions prior to the cutover to this new solution.

• The new solution is not yet active - please enroll, but we are not yet using it.

• You will receive additional communication prior to the cutover to this new solution.

• You will receive additional communication letting you know when you must use the new the solution.

• The IT Department recommends performing these steps from your computer while having your phone available rather than performing these steps entirely from your phone, while you can perform these steps entirely from your phone it might be simpler to use your computer.

Steps to enroll:

Downloading the Microsoft Authenticator app

• Unlock your iPhone and find the 'App Store' app
• Tap on the 'App Store' application to open it.
• Tap on the 'Search' tab on the bottom of your screen.
• Type 'Microsoft Authenticator' in the search bar at the top, then press 'Search' on your keyboard.
• Find the 'Microsoft Authenticator' app in the search results and tap 'GET' to download and install it.

1. Setting up your account in the Authenticator app

   • Once the app is installed, tap 'Open' to launch the 'Microsoft Authenticator' app.
   • You will be greeted with a welcome screen, swipe left until you find the 'Get Started' button and tap it.
   • You will see a '+' symbol at the top right of your screen, tap on this to add a new account.
   • A menu will appear at the bottom, select 'Work or school account' by tapping on it.

2. Visit the MFA Setup page on your computer

   • On your computer, open your preferred web browser.
   • Type in the URL: https://aka.ms/mfasetup and press Enter.
   • You'll be asked to sign in using your Microsoft credentials. Enter your XSPORT EMAIL ADDRESS AND PASSWORD, and then click 'Sign in'.

3. Setting up your default security info

   • Once you're signed in, you'll see a page with a title 'Security Info'.
   • Under the 'Security Info' heading, you'll see a '+ Add method' button. Click on this button.
   • A drop-down menu will appear, select 'Authenticator App' and click 'Add'.
   • 
     

4. Pairing your iPhone with your account

   • After clicking 'Add', a new window will appear showing a QR code.
   • Now, switch back to your iPhone and the 'Microsoft Authenticator' app should be open and waiting to scan a QR code.
   • Hold your iPhone's camera up to the computer screen and aim it at the QR code. The app will automatically recognize and scan the QR code.

5. Confirming your account

   • Once the QR code is scanned, a notification will be sent to your 'Microsoft Authenticator' app on your iPhone for a test verification.
   • Tap 'Approve' on the notification to confirm the setup.
   • Back on your computer screen, you will see a message stating that the app has been paired successfully.

6. Completing the setup

   • Click 'Next' on your computer screen. You may be asked to verify your identity again. If so, you'll receive another notification in the Authenticator app.
   • Tap 'Approve' on this notification, and then click 'Next' on your computer.
